A focused tool for one important job

WoeUSB exists for a specific need: making Windows installation USB drives from a Linux system. Instead of trying to be a general-purpose imaging suite, it does one thing well - it takes a Windows ISO, a disk image, or a real installation DVD and writes a bootable Windows installer to a USB drive. For anyone who maintains, repairs, reinstalls, or deploys Windows machines while working from Linux, that turns a fiddly task into a few clear steps.

WoeUSB and WoeUSB-ng

The version you install today is WoeUSB-ng - a modern rewrite of the original WoeUSB project. It preserves the original's purpose while providing a maintained implementation for current Linux distributions, with both a command-line tool (woeusb) and a graphical interface (woeusbgui). Throughout this site we use the name “WoeUSB” for readability, but every download and install command points to the actively maintained WoeUSB-ng package.

About this website

woeusb.cc is an independent reference site. Its purpose is to give Linux users a clear, fast way to download WoeUSB and follow accurate, distribution-specific instructions for creating bootable Windows USB media. We do not host a modified build, we do not bundle extra software, and we do not distribute Windows itself - you always bring your own Windows installation source.
